Inspect on delivery
Check your goods as they are unloaded, against the inventory list prepared at packing. Open boxes of fragile items where possible before the crew leaves.
Report immediately
Report any damage to the moving company as soon as you notice it, ideally within 24 hours. Prompt reporting is usually a condition for claims.
Document the damage
- Take clear photos of the damaged item and its packing.
- Note the item against your inventory list.
- Keep all paperwork - the quotation, invoice and consignment note.
File the claim
If you took transit insurance, the company helps you submit the claim with photos and documents to the insurer, who assesses and settles it as per the policy.
