Types of Trucks Used by Packers and Movers

One of the most common questions before a move is simple: what size truck do I actually need? Booking too small a vehicle means multiple trips or goods left behind; booking too large wastes money. Here's a plain-language guide to the vehicle types used for household and office shifting in Bangalore.

Tempo / Mini Truck (Tata Ace or similar)

Best for very small moves — a few boxes, a single room, PG or bachelor shifting, or a couple of large appliances. Not usually enough for a full 1 BHK unless the load is unusually light.

407 / 8ft–10ft Truck

The standard choice for a compact 1 BHK or a small 2 BHK with modest furniture. Covers a typical household without heavy items like large wardrobes or extra furniture.

14ft Truck

Suited to a standard 2 BHK home with a normal amount of furniture, appliances and boxes — the most commonly booked size for mid-size Bangalore apartments.

17ft–19ft Truck

Used for a full 3 BHK or a 2 BHK with heavier furniture, a large refrigerator, dining sets and more cartons than usual.

20ft–22ft Container Truck

Reserved for 4 BHK and villa moves, large offices, or intercity relocations where goods travel a long distance and need a fully enclosed, weatherproof container.
