A partial payment made at the time of booking to confirm a moving date and hold the crew/vehicle slot, adjusted against the final bill.
Bilty / LR (Lorry Receipt)
The consignment note issued for a shipment, recording the goods, vehicle, route and terms of carriage — the key legal document for a move.
Chargeable Weight
The higher of a shipment’s actual weight or its volumetric weight, used to calculate transport charges.
Consignee
The person or party receiving the shipment at the destination.
Consignor
The person or party sending the shipment from the origin (usually the customer booking the move).
Dedicated Vehicle
A truck used exclusively for one customer’s shipment, offering faster, more direct delivery than a shared load.
Door-to-Door Service
Complete relocation service from pickup at the origin address to delivery at the destination address, including loading and unloading.
Fixed Quote
A written price confirmed after a survey, covering the agreed scope of work with no changes on moving day (as opposed to a verbal estimate).
Full Truck Load (FTL)
A shipment large enough to fill an entire vehicle on its own, typically used for large households or corporate freight.
Goods Transit Insurance
Optional insurance covering household or office goods against damage or loss during transport.
GSTIN
Goods and Services Tax Identification Number — the unique registration number for a GST-registered business in India.
Local Shifting
Relocation within the same city, as opposed to an intercity or long-distance move.
Pre-Move Survey
A free, in-person or video assessment of the goods to be moved, used to plan vehicle size, crew and give an accurate fixed quote.
Udyam Registration
India’s MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) registration number, confirming a business is formally registered under the Udyam scheme.
Volumetric Weight
A calculated weight based on the physical space (length × width × height) a shipment occupies, used alongside actual weight for transport pricing.
Wooden Crating
A custom-built wooden packing case used to protect very fragile, high-value or irregularly shaped items during transport.
