Large furniture is easier and safer to move when dismantled. The key is staying organised so reassembly at the new home is quick and frustration-free.
What to dismantle
- Bed frames and cots
- Wardrobes and modular units
- Dining tables (legs off)
- Large shelving and bookcases
Keep hardware safe
Put screws, bolts and small fittings for each item in a labelled zip-lock bag, and tape it to the underside of the furniture. Lost hardware is the most common reassembly headache.
Photograph before you start
Take photos of how each piece fits together, especially modular wardrobes, so you have a reference when rebuilding.
Know your limits
Some modular and glued furniture can weaken if repeatedly dismantled. For these, trained movers know which joints to open and which to move whole.
Our carpenters dismantle and reassemble furniture as part of the move. For a free quote, call Laxmi Packers and Movers on 98456 83236.
